About Little Feathers Jewellery

All the jewellery is handmade on the premises starting with sheet silver, wires and stones. Each piece is unique; every stone is set individually and set with simplicity to allow the stones to “do the talking”. This philosophy also goes with the ever growing beaded range. As you can probably tell nature is a constant inspiration to my work including her animals and sea life. I also love incorporating symbols
into my work from different cultures including the new bay leaves and the spiral. Along with this I love mixing gold and silver.

Through all these years the silver feathers have and are still a big part of the business. Originally inspired by the buzzards that lived over the old work shop, one day they had baby buzzards and they then decided that our resident wood pigeons were good hunting and the constant feather supply soon became a source for designing the silver feather! . Made one by one they use every technique on the work bench so they are great to warm up the hands and their symbolism to live for your dreams and prayers still rings true with little feathers philosophy.

Now with around four different stone dealers and four different silver dealers the range of little feather jewellery is constantly growing. Every season brings new stones to work with and new findings to play with and every year brings the challenge to find and use all these different pieces in different ways!
You may also notice in the shop the range of native arts from America and Canada. These two places I have been lucky enough to travel and all three times they have been an inspiration I have great respect for their philosophy and stories. Their use of animals as teachers I find fascinating as you can tell from both the Zuni fetishes and my silver smithing.

The other element that I have found that drives my love for design is the history of jewellery. For many of thousands of years pieces were worn to guide and protect then it was worn to show wealth but at the same time other cultures were wearing it to tell their life story. Jewellery for centuries has been worn to tell a story or to give an impression to others I feel that this can still be the case along with mixing in a bit of crystal healing if one needs to, it is and should be, a personal thing and that is what we strive for here.

So have a look around, take your time, relax and enjoy...................................
